Living with Mental Health Challenges: Personal Stories of Recovery from Across the Globe

Living with mental health challenges can be an isolating, stigmatizing, and confusing experience. This collection of stories presents a broad and thought-provoking spectrum of experiences and interpretations of mental health challenges and ways of pursuing recovery. From using psychotropic medications to implementing nutritional and spiritual practices, twenty-one authors from around the globe share their stories of living with mental health challenges. What does it mean to speak of recovery from mental health challenges and is “recovery” ever possible?

“The stories in this symposium are a resounding success in illustrating what recovery can look like and what factors support or thwart recovery in radically different settings.”
